"You guys sound Canadian."

About

Bombproof the Horses hail from the snowy climes of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  Although they’ve known each other since elementary school, Remco Dalmaijer (vocals, guitar) and Joel Kleine (bass) didn’t start writing songs together until 2012.  They write personal and relatable songs that grab you by the collar, give your head a shake and then buy you a drink.  Joined by Darrel Roy (guitar) and Richard Visscher (drums), Bombproof the Horses play Canadian indie rock with melodic hooks and storied lyrics that move both your body and your brain.  You’ll hear traces of Wilco, Sloan, Sam Roberts, Joel Plaskett and more, but every song is distinctively original.

In September 2013, a song written by Joel Kleine was a finalist in Alberta Treasury Branch’s “All Alberta Song Contest”.  His song, “QE II”, was chosen as one of eight finalists out of over 130 entries.  In October 2013, Bombproof the Horses were semi-finalists in the Long & McQuade Head-to-Head contest.

Since June 2013, Bombproof the Horses has been recording their debut EP at Resonate Music School and Studio in Edmonton.  The resulting 4-song album is scheduled to be available in early 2014.  The songs showcase the band’s upbeat sound with reflective lyrics.  They are working their way into the Edmonton music scene, looking for gigs and musical friends.
